Publisher Description
A swoony romantic novel that inspired the Netflix show following an elite figure skater caught in a love triangle with her new skating partner and an old flame.
“This story set on ice is sure to ignite dreams and warm hearts.”—Laura Taylor Namey, New York Times bestselling author of A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow
“Will leave readers swooning and ready to grab their skates to hit the ice!”—Erin A. Craig, New York Times bestselling author of House of Salt and Sorrows
Adrianna Russo is figure skating royalty.
With gold-medalist parents and her older sister headed to the Olympics, all she wants is to live up to the family name and stand atop the ice dance podium at the Junior World Championships. But fame doesn’t always mean fortune, and their legendary skating rink is struggling under the weight of her dad’s lavish lifestyle. The only thing keeping it afloat is a deal to host the rest of the Junior Worlds team before they leave for France.
That means training on the same ice as her first crush, Freddie, the partner she left when her growth spurt outpaced his. For the past two years, he’s barely acknowledged her existence, and she can’t even blame him for it.
When the family’s finances take another unexpected hit, losing the rink seems inevitable until her partner, Brayden, suggests they let the world believe what many have suspected: that their intense chemistry isn’t contained to the ice. Fans and sponsors alike take the bait, but keeping up the charade is harder than she ever imagined. And training alongside Freddie makes it worse, especially when pretending with Brayden starts to feel very real.
As the biggest competition of her life draws closer and her family’s legacy hangs in the balance, Adriana is caught between her past and present, between the golden future she’s worked so hard for, and the one she gave up long ago.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In this dreamy, sports-themed YA romance, skating off into the sunset is harder than it sounds for an ice dancer who isn’t sure which irresistible guy she wants by her side. Adriana Russo is from a family of skating stars who are masters of the ice—not their finances. With the junior championships approaching, she’s devastated that they might lose their rink. But her skating partner, Brayden, has an idea. If the two of them play into the gossip that they’re dating, the hype should drum up enough sponsorship money to keep the rink running. Jennifer Iacopelli makes the stakes of this fake-romance plan feel realistic and lived in, especially when Adriana has to balance the chemistry brewing between her and Brayden with the desperate crush she’s still harbouring for her old partner, Freddie, whom she sees at the rink constantly. Loosely inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion, this chilly rom-com has a very warm heart.
