Publisher Description
Jake has recently moved back home and joined the fire department. He's leaving his past behind after making some rough choices and losing a fellow firefighter in his old town. Now he's struggling to find his dad's acceptance, he is trying to prove to him that he's a changed man. He finds solace in his fire chief, Brian and his son, Mason. Now Mason's setting him up with his sister Dana for the annual fire banquet. What he assumes is just a one night thing turns into more when he develops feelings for her. Dana has vowed to never date a firefighter again after her bad breakup with Thomas, but she can't help herself from falling for the new member, Jake. She's crazy about him and feels like it was love at first sight. Now his past is revealed to her and she's struggling to accept it and move on. It's a few months later and she finds herself pregnant with Jake's baby. Will she be able to forgive his past so they can have a future together? Or will their relationship go up in flames?

I enjoyed the story. I wasn’t too sure about Jake, he seemed like a wimp and couldn’t stand up for himself.
Not so secretive, but definitely worth the read!!
Enjoyed this story overall, but if you were planning to read a story heavily centred around a pregnancy, this isn’t that. And seeing how the pregnancy wasn’t a big part of the story, the baby “being a secret” wasn’t that important.
Nonetheless, this story is definitely filled with laughs and great moments, and in a few years time I would definitely read this again!! ❤️❤️
Heavy read
A wounded and raw hero who blames others, his family, and himself for past mistakes and trauma he can’t seem to move on from. Most characters are described as black and white, bad or good. One commends the hero and the author, as it seems an outpouring of their own personal traumatic experiences, including alcoholism, abandonment and survivors guilt, for problem-solving to make themselves a better person and move on. Leans towards the dramatic and making decisions I’m not sure I would have given the same set of circumstances but I’m glad it turned into an HEA. Good if you want to do some introspection, but not a light read by any means. On behalf of the local church who let him down, my apologies.
