Kept on the top floor of their grandmother’s vast mansion, their loving mother assures them it will be just for a little while. But as brutal days swell into agonizing months and years, Cathy, Chris, and twins Cory and Carrie realize their survival is at the mercy of their cruel and superstitious grandmother…and this cramped and helpless world may be the only one they ever know.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
It’s the ‘70s. Four children are locked away in the upper rooms of a grand house; their mother and fundamentalist grandmother have imprisoned them to secure an inheritance. As years of deprivation and horrifying punishments pass, older siblings Cathy and Chris mature and their dreams and desires become more adult. V.C. Andrews made her name as the author of this dramatic family saga laced with hidden secrets and forbidden love. Flowers in the Attic remains an irresistible and sometimes shocking page-turner.

Read this book years ago and just read it again. Love VC Andrews. She makes you feel like you are there struggling with them. At times I just wanted to scream at their mother as well.
