I thought I was familiar with Egyptian mythology
Mistress of Sky and Stars
I’m familiar with classical mythology, but the Greeks and Romans will never hold my heart the way the Egyptians and Norse do. I love the way the author has combined myth and romance in this story to give us something that feels bigger than I think it would have been purely of either style. Nut is fierce and Geb is sweet. Together they can be strong enough to face any obstacle in their path.
Collector of Sand And Tears
I thought I was familiar with Egyptian mythology, but the author is proving me very, very wrong. This is an origin myth that I had never heard of before, but now I’m completely fascinated. There’s something that feels so universal about Nehmetawy deciding her own fate and Thoth quietly standing at her side, supporting her, while she does it. This felt like the sort of #couplegoals I could get behind.
Queen of the Two Lands
Once again, even though I thought I knew the myth this story draws its inspiration from, the author is showing how little I really know. I love the depth of knowledge about the source myths the author brings to this series, but this didn’t feel like a full story. Everything between Isis and Osiris and their siblings happens so fast, I wasn’t able to sink into this the way I wanted to. I’m left with so many questions.
Bringer of The River Waters
I really enjoyed discovering the story of Taweret and Sobek. I thought they were kind of adorable together with how shyly they approached one another. Even though this story relies on events in the previous three, it felt more complete than the one before it. And that might simply be because this provides most of the details I so badly wanted before the end of Queen of the Two Lands. However, now I quite desperately want to know what happens next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
