Publisher Description

Free to Walk in Faith is Denise Christine Simon Gorman’s first endeavor in the world of inspirational writing. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, she and her husband have made their home in Dayton since 1980, where they raised their three sons to adulthood. Denise spent 13 years working in dining services at the University of Dayton, serving as a “second mom” to the thousands of students she checked out at her cash register, empathetically listening to their stories and occasionally offering gentle, encouraging advice. Raised in the rich tradition of Maronite Catholicism, she now worships in the Roman Rite. Denise is a long-time member of the St Vincent DePaul Society. She volunteers in her parish’s bereavement ministry and the Corner Cupboard Thrift Store, and she is a member of the Dayton Catholic Women’s Club. Denise plans to continue her work in faith-inspired writing.

This story focuses on the author’s spiritual journey in drawing strength from her faith in God while dealing with many hardships, such as the loss of her childhood friend in a tragic accident. Many of the author’s experiences are heartbreaking and will touch readers with how they affected her life. Even though they must have been difficult to write about, she shares them frankly and sincerely with a writing voice that is friendly but direct--a casual and conversational style that makes the book easy and enjoyable to read. She describes both universal experiences that many will relate to, as well as a short visit to heaven and conversation with Jesus that readers will find thought-provoking and inspiring. Now at peace with herself and those she’s encountered throughout her life, Denise Gorman’s journey has ultimately led her to discern that she is on this Earth to teach forgiveness
