Glacier Express travel guide

Whether you are an armchair passenger or an actual traveller, we would like to welcome you to the Glacier Express Adventure. Depending on the timetable, the trip from St. Moritz to Zermatt lasts around eight hours. It seems that these hours fly past - offering the eye a view of the Alps as intriguing as a flight across them would. This travel guide was written to accompany the journey. It provides a background context to enable traveIlers to understand and appreciate what they can see as well as giving an insight into some of the technical feats achieved by the engineers who constructed the line nearly 100 years ago. Naturally, we can't include absolutely everything but we nevertheless consider that this booklet will add greatly to your enjoyment of the journey and will,  when the journey is over, be a welcome souvenir when you take it home and start to reminisce.
