Global Waste

When we no longer need or want something, we throw it away. It becomes waste, or rubbish. But, what happens when we do throw something away? Where does it go? Is it recycled? Will it decompose naturally? Unfortunately, most of our waste is simply sent to a landfill, or incinerated ñ both of which have serious environmental consequences. There are, however, alternative methods of waste disposal, as well as steps that can be taken to prevent waste production. This book explores the issues surrounding waste, from both UK and global perspectives.
