Description de l’éditeur
When my ex-wife walked out our door, she didn't just take her belongings with her, she took my heart.
I was pretty sure it would never work again, but that was before my sister's best friend showed up at my door. Beaten. In need of serious help. And my sister sent Emmersyn to me, knowing I'd do whatever I could.
Except doing whatever I can means getting married. Again.
We both know the score though, which means Emmersyn knows I'll never love her. I can help protect her and our marriage secures her inheritance, but love? I've already ruined one woman. I refuse to hurt another.
We say I do, and almost immediately I realize spending this much time around Emmersyn will be my downfall.
I might be breaking my promise to her already.
Turns out, when it comes to love and women, I'm wrong about a lot of things.

Avis des utilisateurs
4 1/2 Stars for this fake marriage!
OMG ... Kane and Emmersyn are just too cute together. I felt so sorry for Emmersyn because she was blindsided by her fiancé, but I was so proud of her for leaving him and not looking back. Then there's Kane ... who wouldn't love a hunky hockey player with the protective gene ... really, WHO? The banter is so realistic ... between Kane and Emmersyn (virtually strangers), between Kane and Heather (brother and sister), and especially between the hockey team. This book had me laughing-out-loud one minute, broke my heart the next and then there was all the swooning ... WOW the steam was off the charts! This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book!
When Emmersyn catches her fiancé cheating, he beats her and leaves her in an alley telling her to come see him when she's ready to apologize ... as if! Her best friend Heather puts her on a plane to Vegas where Heather's brother lives ... Heather knows she can trust Kane to keep her friend safe. Kane's wife left him three years ago and he hasn't been able to get over her even though the guys on his NHL team, the Vipers, have tried to help him. Kane will do anything for his sister and when she calls him asking for his help to keep her friend safe, he doesn't hesitate to agree. But when he meets Emmersyn, all he sees are the stitches and bruises on her beautiful face and his protective gene kicks in full force. He even agrees to get fake married to her so she can collect her inheritance and not have to speak to her fiancé ever again. But it doesn't take long for the "fake" lines to blur.
