Golden Roots

Fannie Schaffer waits seven long years for her beloved Jacob Wildasin to return from the California Gold Rush. His success out west combined with their enduring love establishes a legacy rooted in the farmlands of Manheim Township.  In the mid-1960's the state seizes the land Jacob purchased using eminent domain to build a park, and his descendants must confront the loss of their precious heritage.

Sixty years later, a 5th generation Wildasin, Dana, feels compelled to preserve Jacob and Fannie's legacy along with their PA Dutch culture and traditions. After publishing her historical novel, which showcases her ancestors' lives, she continues her quest to dig deeper to understand the events that caused her family sorrow and distress. Her research uncovers a surprising discovery. By diving into an obscured past, Dana attains peace in the present and finds personal closure that she never thought possible.
