Gone with the Wind, first published in May 1936, is a romantic novel written by Margaret Mitchell that won the coveted Pulitzer Prize in 1937. The story is set in Clayton County, Georgia and Atlanta, Georgia during the American Civil War and Reconstruction and depicts the experiences of Scarlett O'Hara, the spoiled daughter of a well-to-do plantation owner. The novel is the source of the extremely popular 1939 film of the same name.
Gone with the Wind takes place in the southern United States of America in the state of Georgia during the American Civil War (1861–1865) and the Reconstruction era (1865–1877) that followed the war. The novel unfolds against the backdrop of rebellion wherein seven southern states, Georgia among them, have seceded from the United States (the "Union") to form the Confederate States of America (the "Confederacy").

A TIMELESS MASTERPIECE!!!
This is my first review on a book and I'll state for the record that I've never been much of a reader of novels before because very, very, few can keep me interested for very long.
This is one of a small handful of books that I've viewed over the last couple of years that I find hard to put down. Yes its long 1000+ pages but its so good you don't want it to every end.
I know lots of people view this as a love story, and it is to a point but what really jumped out is the way people behave when trouble comes knocking and how emotion overtakes reality and common sense.
Without dragging this review out to long, my advice is to read this book and at the end of it, it will leave you breathless and hopefully show you what people are really like deep down regardless of the era.
This is truly a Masterpiece and one of the greatest novels ever written!
