Growing Through Hell

I could've chosen to shrivel up and eventually die; although, I wouldn't have been able to grow if I did.

The time came when I had the chance to awaken to my authentic self. I pushed through the dark to embrace the light, with the decision to create a better life. I endured countless days, months, and even years growing through the muck to discover my true self. I realized that self-hatred and addiction only inhibit the growth that needs to be done to begin to sprout.

Though these times were challenging and difficult to make a headway, it became possible through the act of self-nourishment. It took one thought, one decision and one new habit to mutate the habits that self-hatred and addiction promoted. Through the investment of self-love, self-care and self-respect, my self-worth began to transpire.
