Publisher Description
Hangetsu (originally called Seishan) is a Kata practised in various styles such as Shotokan and Wado Ryu. Related Katas can be found under the name Seisan or Sesan in Goju Ryu as well as in Uechi Ryu and Pangai Noon. One of the forms was handed down by Seisho Arakaki. It probably provided the basis for the various interpretations. The Kata includes techniques that are not found in other forms of Shotokan Karate. It also contains techniques from different Okinawan styles. It stands out like a chimere from the system of Shotokan Karate. The concept of Hangetsu is complex, so it is worthwhile to analyse the Bunkai of the Kata in more detail. In this book, many aspects are illuminated that are otherwise often not taken into account. Over 460 animated illustrations help to understand the interpretations of the Bunkai more easily.
