After flying bombers in World War II, Nick Taylor settles into a normal life. He’s finally fallen in love and plans to propose marriage. But President Truman has other ideas. Ordered to train an artillery unit in just six weeks, Nick must once again put his life on hold in a united effort to thwart another brutal dictator, this time in Korea.



To avoid breaking his girl’s heart, he proposes over the phone, insisting the war will end before his battalion reaches the battlefield. His optimism dwindles, though, when he and his ill-prepared men arrive in Korea to find vintage equipment, inadequate supplies, and chaos. Fighting communists becomes the least of his worries, a truth he hides from his fiancé.



Using ingenuity, Nick ignores the big brass to render successful operations and keep his soldiers alive. While his sweetheart fights for them back home and a five-star general works to end the war, Nick’s courage, and compassion turn boys into men.
