Jesica was just a hometown girl when her mother dies and left her to care for her father who has advanced Alzheimer's disease. Paying for her father's care was a challenge that Jessica met by becoming an accomplished Jewel thief.
David was a detective assigned to find the Jewel thief and bring them to justice. He just didn't come to the realization that the jewel thief could be a woman.
