Elodie is just trying to survive, making ends meet as well as trying to protect her sister and her kids. But, when she catches Jager’s eye, everything changes. I loved the cozy tension these two build together, all homey like, with murderous secrets lingering just outside their door. This world is fascinating and really drew me in - what a terrific read.
Family by Choice
The action and heat begin early in this story and rarely slow down. Elodie and Jaeger meet in a very unique way that quickly leads to the darker parts of the plot. I liked how the push-pull exploration of their relationship eventually revealed their thoughts, desires and even fears around their situation. Overcoming poverty, hardships and trauma to embrace and fight for family by choice were all themes that stood out for me. That, and a renewed appreciation for Hallmark Christmas rom coms. ☺️.
