This story is the first in the Winter Trilogy, which is an account of three siblings, Michael the Marine, Christina the troublemaker, and Ward the educator. From the disadvantage of a dysfunctional family to adult fulfilment, they are a model of redemption, faith, and affection. Meet Ward Winter, the youngest, who endures the foster home maze until he discovers love and courage. He finds a creative use of a small piece of candy.
