An oath will grant you a citizenship but to become an Australian in the true sense, you have to imbibe the values, the beliefs and more importantly the culture of the nation. When you stand for everything, you stand for nothing at all. Multiculturalism as the word denotes is a perfect example of such a case. Time and again, multiculturalism gets precedence over the Australian culture when the government and some media try to appease people from different backgrounds and communities through various sponsored programs. Multiculturalism is a super efficient tool that promotes and celebrates the ethnic and cultural differences among the people of Australia but fails to assimilate them. Choosing to live in a locality consisting primarily of your own community, speaking garrulously in a language other than English in public space, being puritanical with your belief system are some of the things that have gained momentum in the last few years in Australia. We all become an accomplice when we place our vested interest before the interest of the nation. By not being true to the Australian way of life, we are contributing in our own way in annihilating the great Aussie culture. So how deeply are you involved in this national blasphemy?
