In the aftermath of their most difficult mission, the members of Ayers-Ross face a different kind of challenge: moving ahead without Sheldon Ayers. With the world's most accomplished Mindguard sidelined indefinitely, Isabel Mensah struggles to adapt to her new role as the sole guardian of her team's minds.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, Sheldon faces his own struggle. Burdened with the moral consequences of a painful decision, the veteran discovers that his most difficult challenge yet might simply be to move on.

HUMANITY OF ONE is a prequel to THE MINDGUARD SAGA. Set a few months after the events described in Part 3 of AYERS, it can be read as a stand-alone or at any point in the series.
