Publisher Description

It was september eleven 1944 and my grandfather among many others believed Haarlem would soon be liberated by the Canadians and Americans. He wanted to record this historical event and started a dairy. But the war had not ended yet and the people of Haarlem had to survive a terrible hunger winter. My grandfather kept on writing and asked Karel Schrijen if he could illustrate this journal. Karel did and his illustrations make this dairy very special. Opqrstu published Men Zegt... three years ago on iTunes. Now it’s time for a homage to the art of Karel Schrijen: HUNGER WINTER ART.
