Identity

I see the "civil person" as different from the "civil Jew" in one particular thing. Whereas, for the "civil person" the unknowing of the law could not acquit anybody from punishment, for the "civil Jew" the unknowing of the Torah is only a result of lack of awareness. His transgression of the laws is not a result of the malice judgment, but of innocent ignorance. And thus, the "civil Jew" deserves not punishment, but a friendly and welcoming outreach that aims to increase his awareness of the profound implication of "being Jew". The book at hand aims to elaborate on this principle.
