Imagined Partner: Or Not

Publisher Description

Imagined Partner – Or Not contains short stories of women who enjoy an intimate experience - with or without a partner who isn’t physically there. These women could be young or old, poor or middle class, pretty or plain, a coworker, a relative, or a stranger in a car. Their experience may be sparked by a memory, their imagination, or . . . is it something else? Could any of these be your story?

A peek inside:

. . . she takes a break to slowly drink some more while she eats a snack and tries to cool down some outside in the shade. She happens to see her reflection in a tinted window and chuckles at the absurdity that some guy could think she is sexually attractive with her dirt and sweat streaked hair and face and with her pants and shirt almost dripping with sweat. She’s surprised her mind actually considers that and her thoughts go off onto a tangent of wondering what kind of guy might not mind seeing her look like she does. She tells herself, “Yeah, right, like that will ever happen.”

She’s even more surprised when her mind suggests, “You’re right, what do you need a guy for?”

As she turns back to her reflection, she tells herself, “Well, it’s kind of hard to have sex without a guy and don’t tell me I can look for a woman because they may express some pity towards me, but none of the women I’ve met have much interest in getting to know me as a person.”

Her mind tells her, “Why bother with either? You’ve given yourself pleasure before, but how long has it been?”

She sighs then answers, “Too long. But it’s not easy to get in the mood after a long day at a lousy job and then being reminded of how alone I am on the weekends.”

“I understand. Why don’t you step back into the house where no one will bother you then you can start to think about how good it would feel to experience some pleasure.”

Even as she walks into the house, she asks herself, “While I look like this?”

“Are you going to let society dictate how you have to look in order to enjoy some pleasure? Yeah, there are some factors which seem to be hard wired into people to get them to more easily respond in a sexually interested manner. However, a lot more of what society proclaims as preliminaries to a sexual encounter such as getting dressed up and going out to be wined and dined and danced off your feet aren’t requirements if you don’t let them be. People have been having sexual encounters long before there were evening gowns, restaurants, and dance halls. I won’t claim all of those sexual encounters were pleasurable, but then you’ve heard of enough situations where the sexual encounter wasn’t all that pleasurable even after the ‘socially approved’ preliminaries have been accomplished.”

“That’s true.” She pauses then says, “But it would be nice to be treated special some time. Even to pretend as though I was somebody’s precious princess.”

Her mind reminds her, “And what happens the day after when you have to return to reality? If you let someone else’s actions towards you dictate how you feel, you’re letting them control you and I know you don’t want that.”

“Isn’t there some middle ground?”

“I’m sure there is, but until you can find another person who truly cares about you and wants to support and encourage you without controlling you and who you can trust enough to have a relationship with so you don’t feel as though you have to control them, then you need to look inside of yourself to feel special.”

Now it’s her turn to remind her mind, “That’s easier said than done.”

“I’m well aware of that, but you are special. Do you know anybody who is just like you?”

“No.”

Her mind interrupts her before she can say more, “Then that makes you unique and if you’re unique, that means you’re special, even if nobody else can recognize it. A lot of now famous creative people died in obscurity and it was only years later before they were recognized by other people as being someone special.”
