A writer commences a story, an eco-thriller, centred around Shane, a master safecracker, who commits a crime. A huge crime. And there are unexpected consequences. He must negotiate a surprising new path and ultimately make hard decisions about his place in the world.

Set in a pre-apocalyptic near future where signs of the cataclysm to come are everywhere. The climate crisis has developed into a fight for life for every single person on the planet.

How does the crisis affect Shane's decisions about his future? Can he possibly influence the course of events?

The writer, while describing his character's motivation, inadvertently discovers a connection with long-buried memories from his own life.

The shock of events for Shane begin to mirror his own shock.

An exploration, on multiple levels, of humankind's attitude to killing and death.
