Publisher Description
A captain and his crew journey out of time and into battle in the first novel in New York Times bestselling author Taylor Anderson’s alternate history Destroyermen saga.
Pressed into service when World War 2 breaks out in the Pacific, USS Walker—a Great War–era destroyer—finds itself in full retreat from pursuit by Japanese battleships. Its captain, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Patrick Reddy, heads Walker into a squall for cover. They emerge somewhere else...
Familiar landmarks appear, but the water teems with vicious, monstrous fish—and there appear to be dinosaurs grazing onshore. Matt and his crew have entered an alternate world...and they are not alone. Humans have not evolved, but two other species have. And they are at war.
Reddy and the crew of the Walker have the power and weaponry capable of turning a primitive war into a genocidal Armageddon. Now they must decide which species they will support, because the side they choose will be victorious...
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Forensic archeologist Anderson uses fascinating, little-known historical details to bolster his debut tale of modern marines transported to a parallel world where dinosaurs still roam. Whisked away in the midst of battling the Japanese in the early days of WWII, Lt. Cmdr. Matt Reddy, captain of the USS Walker, finds his ship, crew and passengers suddenly involved in a very different war between the peaceful mammalian Lemurians and the vicious, raptor-descended Grik. Reddy must support his crew through the loss of their home world, teach the Lemurians to use steel and steam and keep a sister ship, commanded by a delusional army captain, from falling into the claws of the Grik. Paying homage to such tales as A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Robinson Crusoe and William R. Forstchen and Greg Morrison's Crystal Warriors, Anderson expands on familiar concepts with high-tension nautical battles and skillful descriptions of period attitudes and dialogue.

I read this book in a day, it was so riveting that I could hardly put it down to eat. Must Read!!
Into the Storm
WW2, time travel, alternate worlds, naval battles, sea monsters, and hope; it is as if Taylor Anderson mapped out the inside of my mind and crafted not just a fantastic book, but a phenomenal series just for me! I haven't enjoyed fiction like this in a long, long time.
A good read!
A great alternate history/alternate worlds tale involving WWII sailors, soldiers and their exploits in land they know, yet is far from home.
The start of a multiple book series..
