iREAD
Publisher Description
Flagstaff Unified School District focuses on improving literacy in the early school years in its iPad for Reading, Engagement, Achievement, and Development (iREAD) program. The program focuses on one-to-one iPad for teachers and iPad carts for students in grades K-3.
The iREAD Project was carefully designed to address the rigorous early literacy expectations identified by the Common Core English Language Arts Standards and the proven Five Big Ideas of Beginning Reading (National Reading Panel, 1997). It was launched as a preventative intervention measure in direct response to Arizona’s Move On When Reading statute within Arizona’s Education Reform Plan (Arizona Ready), which states, in part, that 3rd-grade students who “fall far below” in reading skills, as measured by the state-mandated test in April of 2014, may be retained.
