John Graves Simcoe

This work presents a complete biography of John Graves Simcoe, York's first governor. Simcoe and his wife, Elizabeth, lived in a tent while the first permanent settlement in present-day Toronto was being constructed, and Elizabeth's paintings and accounts of the early years there have leant much to modern historians' knowledge of early Toronto.
