Publisher Description
After early retirement as a systems analyst with IBM in 1990, Dave Jacobs attended a diploma course in Family History at King Alfred's College in Winchester (now Winchester University). He chose the history and records of Hampshire Cemeteries as a project and this resulted in a booklet published by the Hampshire Genealogical Society. Indulging this interest later as a member of the Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery, he investigated the stories behind many of the graves in that cemetery, and published them as articles in the FoSOC Newsletter and on his website. One of the more interesting of these graves was the memorial to the Argentinean General Juan Manuel de Rosas, the subject of the present booklet.
He has researched the life of the former Argentine Dictator following the exhumation of his remains from the Southampton tomb in 1989. Dave Jacobs gives an account not only of the general’s life in Buenos Aires but of his life in Carlton Crescent and Burgess Farm, Southampton.
