Katja

An abused slave, a slave trader on his last raid. A sale that should have never happened.

Katja has had many masters, each crueler than the last. Attempting to flee those raiding the village, she's pulled toward certain death, and it is the ending of a life that marks her first meeting with Gunnar.

This was to be Gunnar's last raid. Watching a beautiful woman dragged through the snow with no shoes had him drawing his sword. He offers her his hand and chooses to keep her with him. As a slave trader, it's the only act of kindness he can afford.

The atmosphere at the auction makes Gunnar sick, but he must see it through. Katja sits beside him while others implore him to sell her, but he can't do it. Before he rescues another slave from her new master, Gunnar sends Katja back to the camp for her safety. When he returns, he finds her gone. Against his wishes, she's been sold.

The snow is deep and night is falling, but nothing will stop Gunnar from getting her back.
