Award-winning authors Jane Drake and Ann Love have written 33 books for children, including The Kids Cottage Book; Sweet! The Delicious Story of Candy; and Alien Invaders: Species That Threaten Our World. Artist Mark Thurman has designed, written, and/or illustrated 45 children's books.
In Keeping Up With Jax and Rupert: Thinking About Bear, kids will find the water cold but the issues hot as they explore the connection between where polar bears live and life farther south. Kids will engage with the story and enjoy interactive quizzes, sounds, and clickable graphics.
Jax, a feisty preteen girl, is all fired up about polar bears. Even though she lives far away, she jumps over hurdles and finds ways to help the endangered bear. Together with her geeky cousin Rupert and her funky Grann, she brings the issue of global warming close to home. All the while, Jax dodges the sneers and putdowns of her classmate Lauren. Being passionate may not be cool, but Jax and Rupert still have fun – and make a difference at the same time.
Each story in this series explores an environmental issue, packed into the busy everyday lives of kids. Watch for the next adventure: Keeping Up With Jax and Rupert: Plant a Pumpkin, Grow a Turtle.
