3.75 stars-edgy and animated characters

3.75 stars--KNIGHT OF BIRMINGHAM by Lori Hayes is the eighth instalment in the contemporary, adult multi-authored, multi-cultural KNIGHTS OF THE CASTLE romance series. This is businessman Rory Tanous, and attorney/women’s shelter executive Meghan Turner’s story line. KNIGHTS OF THE CASTLE is a spin off from the multi-authored Kings of the Castle series but you do not have to have read the previous series to follow or understand the current timeline. Several characters cross-over for cohesion and familiarity. The Knights of the Castle series focuses on the Middle East, fictional principality of Durabia, and the misogynistic, racist and ethnocentric attitudes and beliefs.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including but not limited to women and children sexual slavery, and organ trafficking, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several third person perspectives including Rory and Meghan KNIGHT OF BIRMINGHAM follows in the wake of a number of missing women in and around Birmingham Alabama, all of whom have been in and out of the penal system, and working their way towards a better life but the latest victim is a friend women’s advocate Meghan Turner, and with her disappearance reveals a darker and dangerous operation on the rise. Enter the Kings of the Castle whose speciality is to rescue those who are unable to rescue themselves. Enter Rory Tannous, the Knight of Birmingham, a man with close connections to Kings and Durbia. When Meghan goes missing, Rory receives notice of ransom, a ransom is unwilling to sacrifice in the face of so many losses. What ensues is the take down of several people involved in an international human trafficking ring, and the potential for Rory and Meghan to fall in love.

KNIGHT OF BIRMINGHAM is a story of betrayal and vengeance; of secrets and lies; of sexual trafficking, search and rescue. The fast paced premise is sensitive and real; the romance is passionate; the characters are edgy and animated.
