Clear, well organized

I'm quite pleased with this ebook. It is basic in that it provides what it promises and nothing extraneous--no lengthy introductions or stories that I would just want to flip past.

It's organized nicely into chapters that reflect the type of stitch pattern (knit/purl, cable, rib, twisted stitch, lace eyelets, etc.). This way, if you're looking for a stitch pattern that doesn't pull in, you can skip the cable and twisted sections (for example).

The color patterns are a nice inclusion. That chapter is quite lengthy and covers many motifs as well as stitch patterns. Nice to not have to turn toward a dedicated color knitting motif book for these basics.

I would lean more toward 5 stars if each stitch pattern had a brief description of how the knitted fabric acts (whether it rolls or lays flat, stretches, pulls in, etc.). Of course, we still need to swatch, but that would help narrow down the swatching choices, depending on the project or design.

Each pattern has a chart as well as written instructions (except for at least one that I noticed the author didn't provide a chart for, but she did say that it doesn't chart well). All instructions are for knitting flat. It's easy enough to convert for knitting in the round, but if those instructions were included, I would certainly rate this book with 5 stars.
