Publisher Description
An interesting project we completed at the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) was a study of The Boeing Co., Chicago, and its manufacturing models and practices in relation to mortgage banking. We argued that a (single-family) mortgage banking operation is a manufacturing business--a lot less complex, but not too dissimilar to building an airplane. In mortgage lending, there are many third parties, all coming together for one transaction over a specified time frame with financial consequences. Indeed, some of the most successful mortgage banking operations are those that have perfected the art of the loan manufacturing process.
