Life's Journey

For Mariko Buller's 70th birthday, she was given a typewriter and a note from her then-10-year-old granddaughter Lisa. The letter asked her to use the gift to pen her life story, tales her grandchildren were then too young to understand. She spent time at the typewriter, writing about living in Japan during World War II, raising her daughters in New York and celebrating her 80th birthday party with her family by her side. She took a decade off from writing after her husband, Eddie, who moved her from Japan to the United States, passed away. But her life didn't end there, and eventually she finished penning her international love story, her departure from her homeland, her life. "Life's Journey" is the result of those many years of writing -- and many years of living.
