Publisher Description
Private Investigator Dorothy Dennehy and her new business and life partner, Paul Webster, are about to leave Portland, Oregon, for a private investigator conference in New York. However, before they can leave, Paul is murdered—apparently, the victim of a mugging gone wrong, it’s assumed, because an expensive diamond ring was stolen from him. No witnesses are found for the crime, and the Portland Police detective in charge, Michael D’Amico, seems to feel Dorothy is the prime suspect. As Dorothy and her team search for clues to clear her name, dark secrets are revealed about Paul’s mysterious past. But the closer Dorothy gets to the truth, the more likely she is to become the next victim.

Lightning Strike - Pacific Northwest PI Mystery
Dorothy Dennehy and her fiancé, Paul Webster are partners in a private detective agency. Their upcoming trip is circumvented by a phone call which makes Paul leave abruptly with little clue to Dorothy as to why. In short order, Paul’s body is found and the cop who was sure Dorothy killed his friend, is now responsible for Paul’s death. I like how Dorothy had to get past her own personal grief to handle this most personal case. To discover who actually murdered her fiancé, she has to wade through a list of business contacts and family members, all while keeping it together. She has many roadblocks to get by, and not the least of which is Portland Police detective in charge, Michael D’Aminco. He’s stubborn, tenacious, and just won’t let up. Dorothy has HB, her dad and a dedicated team on her side. Still, the evidence, especially Paul’s journals, is confusing for them. It takes serious determination on Dorothy’s part to figure out what happened and why, not to mention figuring out who on her suspect list is actually lying to her. This novel should be developed into a movie script.
