Loaded Laces

This novella was so sweet! I love a good second chance romance and this one was so good. I loved the way West took care of Belle while still allowing her to be the strong and capable woman that she was. I also loved the way her grumpy boss took care of her. This was a short and sweet read and I happily and voluntarily reviewed this book.

3.75stars- LOADED LACES is the third (2.5) instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary, adult EAGLES HOCKEY, erotic, hockey romance series. This is single mother and PA Belle Harrison and hockey player West Stevenson’s second chance story line. LOADED LACES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Belle and West) LOADED LACES follows the rebuilding romance and relationship between Belle Harrison and hockey player West Stevenson. At the ages of sixteen Belle and West were best friends and lovers but West was drafted into the junior leagues, and Belle pushed West out of her life. Fast forward ten years, to present day, Belle is struggling, and crossing paths with the man whose heart she broke, brings the reality of her situation up close and personal. Reconnecting with West finds Belle focusing on a future for her and her son.

The world building is short and sweet. A little reflection about the past, the break up, and a possible future.

The relationship between Belle and West is one of second chances; a rekindling romance in the face of past betrayal. As Belle continues to struggle with hopes of a future, West sees the possibility of his own happily ever after. The lone $ex scene is passionate.

We are introduced to Belle’s son Quinn, and her boss Jace Henderson.

LOADED LACES is a fast paced, quick read focusing on secrets and lies, forgiveness and love. The premise is entertaining and captivating but I was hoping for a little bit more. The romance is subtle; the characters are determined and dynamic.
