Looking Back

In this collection, Elaine recounts her early years, the suicide of her father, the murder of her mother, the violent attempted rape by her stepfather, domestic abuse from her husband and a serious post-natal depression involving months in a mental hospital.  In spite of all this, Elaine mainly kept a superb sense of humour and three examples of her humorous writing are included in the collection. Read also of her political life in the Young Communist League, her arrest and acquittal on an anti-apartheid demo and cutting the fence at Menwith Hill.
