I have some very mixed feelings about this book
I have some very mixed feelings about this book. I love the ‘best friends to lovers’ theme and this book does it very well. I love quirky zany characters and that description fits this group of friends and family to a ”T”. I love a small-town setting and I adore a hero in uniform! But this book really needed to have a better editing job done on it. The number of typos, incorrect word choices, and poor fact checking made me want to pull my hair out by the roots. An allergy to shrimp isn’t necessarily an allergy to seafood – it’s an allergy to crustaceans. A stroke doesn’t happen in the heart, it happens in the brain. The dusting gadget isn’t a “swifter”. I’ve never seen a person “husk” to another place. And how exactly does a successful Marine with “authority issues” work? I’m not a fan of Other Woman drama. I realize that Hunter’s parent’s relationship messed him up. So did the way they died. It’s just really difficult for me to believe that he cares for Taylor Jane the way he’s supposed to when he’s prepared to have and flaunt his FWB relationship in front of her. I also felt like their Happy Ever After happened way to quickly. This pair still had a ton of issues to work through before they got there. I’m curious about Kristen and “Demon”, but I don’t know if I’ll read their book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
