Loveda Brown finds herself on the run as a killer counts down, people go missing… and not even home base is safe.

No one heard the girl scream. The tiny mountainside town of Idyllwild, California, as yet the Wild West of 1912, is struggling with a runaway boy, an unflappable sorority, a crippled woman, a pack of mules, and now a murder. When the Hemet police step in to assist, Loveda Brown is left to pursue her own suspicions. Is it sabotage, subterfuge, or something more sinister?
