The reins were tight in the hands of the beholder. Strange, considering they had these creatures at this point in time. Their lush, feathery wings, extending out to reveal the most elegant, yet deadly thing you've ever seen. The female riding on the Kiila loved the sound of the wind whistling in her ears, and the rush of the chase.

She took out two fingers, and placed them on to the warm skin of her neck, to feel her heartbeat. It beat faster than a rocket, and it felt as if the skin was expanding up and down, just trying to contain the pulse. The sweat that came from her hand made it hard to hang onto the reins of the horse, but she knew she must press on.

"Keep going!" A male voice came from just slightly behind her. His grey stallion was at tail's distance from the Kiila she rode on, and he was obviously bothered by the lack of space, but the female only rolled her eyes, hunched over, and kicked at the Kiila's abdomen. It let out a small whinny, before the dark red pupils of the eyes slid to the back of the head, and was replaced by a white eerie glow.

It stood on its hind legs for a moment, its mane swishing in a sideways motion, before jumping the height of a large fence, and galloping at top speed. The female cheered on in excitement, and taunted the male, with phrases such as "What now?" and "Of course my Kiila is better!" He scowled at the female, and urged for his stallion to push on, but of course, it couldn't catch up to the Kiila.

As the female taunt him, and the male strained to become in closer distance with his partner, the female stopped laughing abruptly. The male finally let out a chuckle, and yelled over to her, "Who's laughing now?". But after no response came from her, his horse stopped suddenly, in the middle of the abandoned brick road, just on the outskirts of a forest.

"What is it?" he called to the horse, but to his dismay, the horse reared up, sending the male shooting off the back of the sturdy stallion, and onto the ground. Then, it galloped off, down the brick road, until the male's opticals could only see the faint image of it over the horizon.

He called his horse's name multiple times, but after no creature came, he tilted his head down in misery. To his shock, and horror, there was his partner, her face as pale as snow, and her eyes as white as snow flakes. Her arm was twisted in a pretzel-like-shape, and to the male's despair, she didn't utter a single breath.

On the flesh of her neck oozed a red substance from two small holes. It dripped down, trailing onto her leather hunting tunic, and onto the bricks below. The males eyes filled with horror as he examined the wounds. He noticed the depth was beyond comprehensible. He didn't know such small of an injury could prove to cause such damage.

He fell to his knees, and as he buried his face in her silken black hair, rain clouds began to form above in the sky. Spiralling towards the earth, they pelted onto his thin leather jacket, soaking the male and his partner’s breathless body.

Without hesitation, the male burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably over the body. His vision clouded with the liquid that dripped from his eyes, rolling onto the body and into the plaster below.

He took out his platinum Desox 43 pistol, and put it up to his temple.

"In life, and in death." he muttered, before his finger retracted, and the bullet fired into his skull. As soon as it had penetrated his flesh, the blood rushed to the bricks below.

His body fell beside hers, and together, they lay there. The rain washed the blood into the grass, and slowly, their souls began to drift away from this world, and into another.
