Money does indeed make the world go round. At least that's the message I took out of a trio of national and news events that dominated the headlines the past few weeks. It all started when Bernie Madoff was sentenced to a staggering 150 years in prison for masterminding--maybe a better word would be dunderminding--an elaborate Ponzi scheme that cheated a bunch of folks out of $65 billion. The judge who sentenced Madoff said that the sentence was symbolic restitution for a crime that was "extraordinarily evil" and "took a staggering human toll."
