Mastering the Art of DOING NOTHING

Doing Nothing is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. During the acute recovery from an illness or injury is typical to take rest and let the affected part of your body heal. Virtually everything you do requires your brain however, hence letting your brain rest is not so straightforward.

BRAVE is all about the small acts of courage needed to carry on and move forward. To me, being brave means not only being okay with doing nothing, but also being able to sit still and avoid stimuli during the times when my body and brain need nothingness.

About the Series

BRAVE is a light-hearted, humorous comic series on concussions. The 10 part mini-series shines a light on the small acts of courage needed to carry on and find your own way forward following a head injury. The hand-drawn and colored illustrations that accept inconsistencies parallel the human experience which is disjointed and imperfect.

The creator of BRAVE, Kanika Gupta, lives with Post-Concussive Syndrome.

Disclaimer: BRAVE comic series is not a substitute for medical advice. Rather it provides an honest, first-hand account of what it means to live with a concussion.
