Barely useful
This book does not help you master XMPP.
It is a series of low quality screen shots of code with vague, brief explanations in between.
You will not be taught to understand how things work, merely be shown a cobbled together implementation of a poor app with so many corners cut in hopes you will figure out the rest. The rest happens to be the difficult parts that you truly need to be taught in order to make a chat app.
The author even went as far as to manually edit the 3rd party library in his code sample (extremely bad practice).
