Mattie's Story

A poignant coming-of-age tale set in the 1840s of Prince Edward Island.

In the rugged red-earth landscapes of rural Prince Edward Island, fifteen-year-old Mattie Cameron navigates a world where family, faith, and survival are tightly intertwined. It was a time of one-room schoolhouses and hard work on the farm—until the sudden passing of the man of the house changes everything.

Forced into the responsibilities of adulthood far beyond her years, Mattie is suddenly told she must marry a man whose name she doesn't even know. Thrust into the trials of a marriage not of her choosing, she must rely on her quiet inner strength and natural resilience to navigate her journey from innocence to womanhood.
