Mei Kwei

Once my mother operated a perm parlour in a certain
street in our hometown. All the houses in the street were used
for carrying out businesses except the house three doors
away from my mother's perm parlour. It was the residence
of a private school teacher. There was nothing remarkable
about the house except for a woman who always sat on
the high concrete threshold of the house.
