Mine Eyes Have Seen

Drawing from journals, letters, and memoirs, this book lets the participants of the war tell about their experiences in their own words. We are brought along on picket duty, and on the endless marches through sun and rain, we sit with the boys in blue and gray around the campfires, hear about their homesickness and dreams for the future, and we are with them on the battlefield and in the field hospitals.   

   The accounts are enhanced with almost 300 images, most of them contemporary illustrations by war artists who traveled with the armies.
