Retired Fort Worth Police Lieutenant David Malone’s gripping story spans his twenty year career. With searing candor and sparkling insight, he deftly illuminates many gritty and inspiring memories. Following the shooting of his fellow officer, who dies in Malone’s squad car speeding to the hospital, he begins a downward slide. He sinks into the abyss of depression and post-traumatic stress, from which there seems no escape. As the years pass, Malone faces more trauma and has to shoot a man in self-defense. Finally, a family emergency brings him to a hospital on 8th Avenue, where he faces his greatest crossroad. His life is changed forever.

Retired Forth Worth Police Lieutenant David Malone has written a gripping memoir of his twenty year police career. A 1969 graduate of the Fort Worth Police Academy with a BA in English from Texas Wesleyan University, he narrates the gritty and inspiring memories of his years on the streets and his battle against post-traumatic stress during these desperate years. In 1975, a fellow police officer is shot in the city streets, and dies in Malone’s squad car, as Malone speeds to the hospital. Malone experiences severe traumas for years to come. A book about new beginnings, Malone later experiences a miraculous change and charts a new course for his life. He later goes on two Olympic missions trips to Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000). Malone has worked over twenty years in the security industry after leaving the police department. He did ten years of volunteer work with Alzheimer’s residents. David and his wife Connie live in the Fort Worth area. Malone wishes to help spread the simple message of Jesus Christ throughout the world and see lives transformed.
