Mishalla’s Courage

Trueborns rule the caste-based society on planet Loka. Lowborns can steer clear of trueborns, but the enslaved GENs—Genetically Engineered Non-humans—must obey trueborns to survive. A handful of liberated GENs—the circuitry in their bodies dissolved forever—are now in two worlds, passing as lowborns while hiding their enslaved past.

Mishalla is no longer an enslaved GEN. A series of injections erased the circuitry in her body and the tattoo interface from her cheek, so she's safe from trueborn punishments and control.

Although Mishalla can pass as a lowborn girl, fitting into lowborn society isn't as easy as she thought it would be. She's partnered with Eoghan, the lowborn boy she loves. But with Eoghan off on Kinship missions so often, she seldom sees him.

Then Mishalla is offered a mission of her own. Disguised as a GEN, she's sent to find a traitor in the Kinship. But what was supposed to be a low-risk mission turns to disaster, with Mishalla responsible for far more lives than her own. Can she save herself, save the others, and reveal the traitor in time?
