Vivian Churness writes a story that reads like a cross between a detective mystery and a testimony of personal spiritual formation. It is not an invented tale. It is the story of Vivian’s search for her abducted son, and the formation of her personal life during the years-long search. It is all true. 

What does a young wife and mother do when her husband and three year old son suddenly disappear without a trace? Vivian and her husband have been separatedfor a year. The son was with his father when last seen. There have been no formal divorce proceedings, no question of child custody. The police say they cannot do anything: the boy is with his father. No friend or family member offers any hope or information. Private investigators can't turn up a clue.

Months and years go by. Every trail ends up in a dead end. It would be easy for a mother to sink into a swamp of despair. Vivian went a different route: she pursued further education in her nursing profession, ended up with a PhD in Nursing Science. She found encouragement and support from spiritual comrades and in her church. 

It was a privilege for me to serve as Vivian’s pastor during much of this story. I won’t ruin the suspense by telling you how it turns out. I encourage you to get into the book and start walking through the life and challenges of a remarkable woman -- someone who said NO to despair, said YES to faith and hope, said YES to forgiveness and love.
