Publisher Description
No matter what was said publicly about the business of intelligence, the United States, like nearly all of those of other countries, has, down through history, combined the two oldest professions in history—spying and whoring—to gather vital information and conduct operations. For the purposes of a fictional cut at this, habu, who has had his turn working in U.S. intelligence, has constructed an operational unit, inside the CIA, that exploits sex in intelligence operations. He has named this the Candy Store Unit, and has given it a masterful, but malevolent, even though on the good guys’ side, chief, in the form of Sam Winterberry. Of course, such a unit doesn’t exist within the CIA no matter how much sense it would be for there to be one. That’s habu’s story and he’s sticking to it.
This collection of ten stories, the second collection in a series, which started with Sam Winterberry: Candy Store Unit Spy Chief, continues giving case studies on the gay male aspect of the operations of the Candy Store Unit throughout the world. Although only tersely engaged in the action of these stories, Sam Winterberry is an ever-present force, directing the operations and both guiding and exploiting his young, male agents in their work. These young men are trained and dedicated to servicing targeted men—and women, as necessary—of intelligence interest to the United States however they are located and can be cultivated because of what they know that is of intelligence value to the U.S. government.
None of this, as depicted in these stories, is real, of course—unless you are willing to accept that the intelligence operations of countries are savvy enough to include the world’s two oldest professions—prostitution and spying—to inform and achieve their policy goals.
