Publisher Description
More Stirabout was first published in 1934, by the Quota Press in Belfast. It is a collection of plays, short stories, poems and essays written by my grandfather, Ruddick Millar.
Two of the stories deal with the sinking of RMS Titanic, a very personal subject for my grandfather who was orphaned at the age of 5 by the Titanic disaster. He was one of the first Northern Irish authors to write about the Titanic, a subject which had previously been taboo in Northern Ireland.
The word "Stirabout" is an Ulster-Scots term for a pot of stew containing a medley of leftovers. My grandfather was trying to convey that he was mixing up the best ingredients of his work in this book.
More Stirabout is one in a series of books and plays by Ruddick Millar which will be available on iBooks.
