Terry Buckley was a washed-up, divorced longshoreman whose recent injury made him unemployable on the docks, and whose devoted relationship to the bottle made his future prospects even more grim. But little did Terry know when he went to visit his cousin in the hospital that he would unwittingly find himself at the center of a brutal and unprecedented conflict.

Only briefly reported by the press, the circumstances surrounding the murder led to landmark precedents in law and policy. Set during one of the worst fiscal crises in New York history, this fictionalized account of true events depicts a maelstrom of intrigue and malfeasance, and lays a foundation for why a great institution was forced to close its doors in bankruptcy.
